AquaGen use compact, movable hydraulic cranes at their broodstock units in Norway to lift brailers of fish out of the tanks for egg and milt harvesting and commissioned Norfab to supply a similar unit in Scotland.

The crane had to be freestanding, movable by forklift indoors, and have a capacity of 350kg at 4m reach. We designed an adaptation of a standard light lorry crane, powered by 12 volt battery. It has some useful additional features, such as the jacking legs, which enable it to reach across the top of the tanks with ease. We supplied a set of heavy-duty skates to put under the feet, so that it can be pushed across the floor or fine-adjusted into position without risking damage to the tanks with the forklift.
